M.S. in Fishery Biology, 1992 at Colorado State University. Performance of the toxicant antimycin-A in high gradient streams.

Ken Tiffan's research area is the ecology and life history of fall chinook salmon in the Columbia River basin, with an emphasis on endangered stocks in the Snake River. Current activities include a cooperative study with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on the effects of summer flow augmentation on the migratory behavior and survival of threatened Snake River fall chinook salmon. Other studies include an evaluation of winter-time passage of juvenile fall chinook salmon past a Snake River dam, evaluation of the effects of high summer water temperature on subyearling chinook salmon at McNary Dam, and an assessment of chum and fall chinook salmon spawning habitat in the mainstem Columbia River below Bonneville Dam.
