Email: pete_kofoot@usgs.gov

B.S. 1991. Biology, Northland College, Ashland, Wisconsin.

Current Position: Biological Science Technician

Pete began his fisheries career in the Midwest. While pursuing his undergraduate degree at Northland College, he worked several years as a student intern and biological science aide with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Great Lakes Field Station in Ashland, Wisconsin. During that period Pete worked extensively with the ruffe, an exotic perch from Europe introduced to Lake Superior through the ballast water of ships.

Pete began working at the Columbia River Research Laboratory in 1992. While at CRRL he has been a part of a variety of projects working with anadromous and resident fish in the Columbia and Snake rivers. His primary responsibilities are data collection in the field and boat operations. Pete is a Coast Guard licensed operator of uninspected vessels under 25 tons and a certified boat safety instructor for the Department of the Interior. He is currently working with a project studying the influence of hydroelectric development and dam operations on white sturgeon populations.
