Picture of Ty W. Hatton

B.S. Marine Biology, Texas A&M University at Galveston. Previous job experiences include conch abundance studies on reef systems in the Florida Keys with the Florida Department of Natural Resources (FDNR). Additional work with the FDNR focused on a pilot study to document the flora and density on mangrove islands in Florida Bay.

Ty is currently with the Anadromous Fish Ecology Section, Columbia River Research Laboratory, Western Fisheries Research Center, investigating the migration behavior of juvenile salmonids near hydroelectric dams on the Snake River. His work during the past year has included research of a new surface bypass structure, the removable spillway weir at Lower Granite Dam. Ty and his co-workers are looking at the effects of passage and behavior influenced by this novel structure and hydraulics near the hydroelectric dam by implanting juvenile salmonids with hydroacoustic telemetry tags and monitoring fine scale movement in three-dimensions.
