Picture of Amy Braatz

B. S. in Biology with an emphasis in marine biology, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon. Currently, a Fishery Biologist at the Columbia River Research Laboratory, Western Fisheries Research Center, in Cook, Washington. Previous job experience includes volunteer positions at the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area in Newport, Oregon.

Ms. Braatz is currently a member of the Anadromous Fish Ecology section investigating migration behavior of juvenile salmonids near hydroelectric dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers. This past year, her work has emphasized a new surface bypass structure called the removable spillway weir (RSW) at Lower Granite Dam, Washington. Using radio-telemetry, Amy and her coworkers are determining the affect of the RSW on fish passage, behavior, and migration time. Future studies include additional research of the RSW and survival through the project. Amy's research specialties include radio-telemetry, surgical tagging for implanting transmitters in smolts, data analysis and management, and writing.
